Question: I have about $2000 in my savings account and $1800 on a credit card. Should I use most of my savings to pay off the credit card?
Answer: The main point here is to maintain an emergency fund. To fully pay off $1800 would leave you with only $200 cash. Is that sufficient for you? Otherwise the next emergency would put you back into debt. You might wish to retain the amount you are comfortable with, and work hard to get rid of the remaining debt. Consider switching to a Debit card in the meantime and budget all your money.
